Looking for something freaky to rock to? Here’s an epic music video of Here Come the Mummies’ “Let Your Freak Flag Fly” from Bobby Brane that combines animation with the Kinect’s motion-sensing capabilities.

This awesome video’s animation was completed with DazStudio , a 3D figure customization, posing and animation tool that allows users to create stunning digital artwork and animated movies and rendered in 3D Max. All motion capture was done using a Kinect and Trubone’s iPiSoft Studio.

The iPiSoft Studio runs on the iPi Basic system, a system designed for use with 1 or 2 Kinects or 2 to 4 webcams.
“iPi Soft Mocap brings a low-cost professional solution for capturing accurate animation data comparable to expensive traditional marker-based mocap systems, without the need for expensive facility space, clumsy sensor suits with reflective markers or a team of technicians.”

The result is a fresh, slick animated 3D video set to a very catchy song from Here Come the Mummies that’ll have you either singing or dancing along before it ends. If you’re looking at using the Kinect for similar purposes, here’s a good example of what you can come up with if you’ve got the right tools.
