Now your robots can share the same enthusiasm you have in the dancing to the beat. The Kinect Dubstep Robot make use of the motion capture of the Microsoft device and translates the choreography to the robots. This entertaining Kinect hack was created by Taylor Veltrop and showcased this video to demonstrate the Kinect and robot’s potential to dance. In the video, the user is seen being captured by the Kinect. The choreography of the user is being replicated by the robots thanks to the Kinect’s motion capture and skeleton tracking system. The Dubstep program is used to create the beat where the robots and the user will dance to. The end result is a smashing display of robotic performance and entertainment.
Here is a description by the developer:
“This is my entry for the freestyle competition at RoboGames 2011. This dance was also previously performed in Japan. The Japan performance is in my playlist but on the Robots Dreams channel. I think I like how this performance turned out better, even though Veltrobot’s legs barely held up.”
