We expected Microsoft to eventually bring Kinect to Windows. What we didn’t expect was the software giant releasing an improved version of the popular device.
Physically, the new Kinect looks the same. Don’t be fooled though because it’s better than the original. The Kinect allows you to be closer to it. Originally, the Kinect wouldn’t operate unless you were at least 20 inches away. The new version will require you to be only 16 inches away. It also has a quicker tracking and a more sensitive sensor.
Unfortunately, Microsoft’s official release of the SDK works exclusively on Windows. Only the beta can work on the 360.
Having the Kinect on Windows has opened a myriad a possibilities. If hacked right, you can browse websites with your hands, click with a simple hand gesture, and pop-up an on-screen keyboard. All without having to touch anything.
