Music scholars love their Kinect and Johannes Kreidler takes the word experiment to the next level! The Kinect Music Studies by Johannes Kreidler is a Kinect user’s experiment of the Kinect and its potential in the music industry. This video displays the different kinds of “virtual instruments” that can be used with the Kinect. In the video, the user is seen playing around with a violin and an electronic keyboard. Music is produced but not because he played these instruments, but because the Kinect is able to track the user’s gestures. The user then continues to experiment on different gestures such as hand-raising to window washing in studying the different possibilities when music and the Kinect are fused together. The future of music looks so bright thanks to the Kinect!
