We get treated with a great API library for simplified Kinect use. The Kinect Multi Device Wrapper is a great software addition in expanding and improving the use of the Kinect. This video by Robert Praxmarer showcases the great features that is now available especially for C++ programmers. In the video, the Kinect device shows how programming the Kinect is now easier. The Multi Device Wrapper also supports the OpenNI and Official Microsoft SDK. This means that programmers now have that versatility.

Here is a description by the developer:

“2RealKinectWrapper is an API built as a static library which simplifies the usage of multiple Kinect sensors (PrimeSense, Microsoft) for C++ programmers.

It supports both major SDKs (OpenNI and Microsoft’s Kinect SDK, (Panasonic Imager is in development)) with one easy to use programming interface.

Simple examples for libCinder, OpenFrameworks and plain OpenGL/GLUT accompany the release to demonstrate it’s capabilities and usage.

The programming interface shouldn’t change in the future in terms of breaking your code, new functions nevertheless might be added.”
