This is what you get when you give an artist with a Kinect and leave it to be experimented with! The Kinect Integrarte Entregarte is a series of Kinect experiments partnered with visual effects. This video by Barbara Castro displays the various visual eye-candy that the user can make when their artistic imagination is partnered with the Kinect. In the video, the user moves the upper body in order to conjure colorful spectacles. The visuals respond to the user’s movement and they can change in shape, color, and behavior depending on the user’s preference. This is the result of the merger of art and technology!
Here is a description by the developer:
“My first contact with Kinect, developing sketches with SimpleOpenNI librarie for Processing. These sketches are experiments in the creation process of the INTEGRARTE ENTREGARTE installation. The final proposal involves the execution of an installation that generates visualizations and sounds of the human movement. In this first step we are investigating visual ways to explore the body data obtained through the kinect sensor. The installation integrates the theoretical-practical master research at the Escola de Belas Artes/Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro under the orientation of Doris Kosminsky and the “Audio-Visual Autorship Systems” research coordinated by Luiz Velho at the Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada(IMPA). All experiments are being developed within IMPA.”
