The Kinect is all about making interfaces much easier to access and this simple yet effective Kinect hack does just that. The Kinect Gesture Controlled Start Menu aka Candascent NUI gives users an easier access to different Start Menu items. This video by Stefan displays how through gesture-based controls, users will have an easier time accessing certain programs. In the video, the Kinect captures the hand of the user. Displaying the palm in a wide open gesture brings up the NUI start menu. The user then can use his hand in order to select one program and it instantly opens. As the development of NUIs and Kinect reaches a critical yet important level, breakthroughs such as this, with the help of Microsoft Kinect SDK will create standardized controls.
