At the recent Festival Electroshock, one game stood out as the Kinect and the community further developed the old classic, “Space Invaders” and effectively integrated gesture-based controls to it. This Youtube video by Derrgis presents the Kinect Space Invaders game seen in the festival being tried out by users. With their hand and arm gestures, users can control the space ship and fire missiles to repel the alien invaders. The Kinect captures the user’s movements and this provides the input necessary to play the game. While we’ve already seen Space Invader Kinect games before, this is the first that has been featured in a grand event. From the looks of it, people enjoyed the twist added to the classic game a lot.
