Kinect + Android devices + Android Games = most awesome development for the Android yet. Not only touch by remote gestures can now be used to access the Android thanks to the Kinect community’s dedication. Youtube user TehKeripo released this video on the integration of Kinect to an android device and how the Beats 1.5.5b supports the Kinect device. In this video, the user is seen using gestures to play the rhythm game. It pretty much resembles the Dance Mania arcade games that use hand gestures to play. Depending on the placement of the hand gestures, the game responds to the 4 direction selections. This gives android users a glimpse of the various games they can tweak and also applications that can use the Kinect’s tracking ability.
Here is a description by the developer:
“Beats, Advanced Rhythm Game is a music rhythm game for Google Android phones/devices. Dance with arrows to the beat of music StepMania/DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) style or tap circles Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents style!
This is a proof-of-concept gameplay demo of Beats 1.5.5b with Microsoft XBOX Kinect support. The song used in this demo is “Chaoz Impact” by ParagonX9, stepfile by Lisek with permission for distribution with Beats. The person learning to “dance with his hands” in the demo is my lab partner, Eric Chen while I (Philip Peng) am recording the video. This was our final project for ESE350 (Microcontrollers & Embedded Systems) at University of Pennsylvania (http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~ese350/)”
