For those of you who have been following gaming news, you know that E3, the premiere electronics gaming event, is currently ongoing. Kinect fans have been excitedly waiting to see what new goodies Microsoft will be revealing involving our favorite device. Sadly, there’s no word yet on new hardware, such as the rumored Kinect 2, but we did get a brief glimpse of what we can look forward to:

1) Games, games, games and more games. Despite all the cool things KinectHackers have done out there, let’s not forget that the Kinect is first and foremost a gaming device. Even before E3, we’ve seen AAA titles like Mass Effect 3 and Skyrim take advantage of the voice features of the Kinect. Now, it looks like a lot more gaming companies are jumping into the Kinect bandwagon. Expect the latest sequels of Forza and Fable to be “Kinect-enhanced.”

2) We’ve got some new apps that KinectHackers may want to tinker with. Microsoft unveiled updates to the Xbox Dashboard and will also be introducing Internet Explorer to the Xbox. Both can be controlled via the Kinect voice-commands. What should be more interesting to all the KinectHackers out there though is the Xbox SmartGlass. The new app intends to make TV and movies more interactive and will feature Kinect functionality as well. This one certainly bears watching.

Check out the short presentation video we’ve included from Microsoft!

We’ll keep an eye out for any additional Kinect updates from E3. Be sure to come back for more!
