How about playing a game of co-op pong but this time, using your bodies to play the game. The Kinect Proxemic Pong Game lets users cooperatively play this classic game using their bodies as the primary controllers. This video by TillBa shows two users having a go on the Proxemic Pong game. In the video, the Kinect senses the two users who are playing the game. The mechanics of the Proxemic Pong game is the same as the classic one the difference is that as the ball hits the platform, the other player should take place. This then gives the players a multiplayer dynamic when playing a Kinect game. They are required to alternate their positions as fast as possible in order to properly play the game. As this development is showcased, we’re treated to various options that Kinect games can be played.
Here is a description by the developers:
“This is a port of the Proxemic Pong game using a Microsofts Kinect Sensor.
The original Version was designed with a Vicon motion tracking system and the Proximity Toolkit. This version now uses a Kinect with OpenNI.”
